MACC-II (Monitoring Atmospheric Composition and Climate - Interim Implementation, website) is the current pre-operational atmospheric service of the European GMES programme (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security, website). MACC-II receives funding from the European Community's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7 THEME [SPA.2011.1.5-02]) under grant agreement n° 283576. MACC-II has started on 01/11/2011 and will run until 31/07/2014, when the operational GMES atmospheric service is expected to follow on.

For the benefit of its users, MACC-II provides data records on atmospheric composition for recent years, data for monitoring present conditions and forecasts of the distribution of key constituents for a few days ahead. MACC-II combines state-of-the-art atmospheric modelling with Earth observation data to provide information services covering European Air Quality, Global Atmospheric Composition, Climate, and UV and Solar Energy.

The second General Assembly of MACC-II will take place between Tuesday November 6th 2012 and Friday November 9th 2012 at Météo-France's Centre International de Conférences.
