As part of WCRP's commitment to education, capacity development, and the training of the next generation of climate experts, a limited number of travel grants are available
to support the participation of students, early career scientists and scientists from developing countries to attend the workshop.
Grants will be assigned based on financial need and the scientific merit of the proposed presentation described in the abstract.
Priority will be given to :
students : those pursuing their graduate studies (MSc, PhD)
early career scientists : post-graduates and researchers who received their highest degree in 2008 or later
scientists from emerging and developing economies
Grantees must attend the entire workshop in order to benefit from the financial support which can cover travel and/or accommodation.
In order to qualify for financial support the applicant must :
submit an abstract to the conference, of which he/she is the principal author
submit an application for financial support consisting of a short Curriculum Vitae (max 1 page, size A4), a brief statement (300 words max) indicating the
scientific motivation and expected benefits of participation and, if the applicant is a student, a letter from her/his supervisor, supporting attendance.
We strongly encourage the applicant to secure and indicate that at least a portion of the required financial support has been obtained from national/institutional sources.
The application, in pdf format, should be emailed to doug.smith@metoffice.gov.uk by 1 February. A panel will review the applications and successful applicants will be notified
of the result by 28 February.
